It is not necessarily a bad thing to have a spoiled wife in peace time as long as the family financial is under control for it is always the economy or the capital that determines politics (“生产力决定生产关系”，“经济基础决定上层建筑”). Spoil is often related to lack of independence. Hence, a spoiled wife usually has no place to go except go to her husband for anything or everything. :)
